The painting has begun and the Osborn house is coming to life. As expected, we are pushing the envelope with the colors. We are going to bring some totally hip color combinations and do some things that some people will have to see for themselves.
Blue is the new gray and it is hot this year (not that we're divorcing gray, we're actually using it upstairs). So, we will be using plenty of it. We are using a soft blue with a green undertone in the kitchen that pops very nicely in contrast to the sharp white shaker cabinets.
We are going to use an awesome navy blue: (http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/halenavy) that will be really sharp with the white tile bath/shower surround, white tile floor, and bright white trim we are planning for the bathroom.
And, we will definitely be doing some grey. Most of the second floor will be the light grey pictured below.
The riskiest color choice will be the white we use for many of the walls on the first floor. Many of our readers may be questioning the decision to use white, but please reserve your judgment until after you see it. There are many shades of white. The wrong application of white can look institutional and boring. However, the right one can give a fresh, clean, and calming look to a space. We are using a shade/color called "simply white": http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/oc-117
We are hoping to make believers out of any white paint haters who come and check out our house at the launch party. We can't wait until you see these colors in person!
