After weeks of feeling like we were not seeing any results, we finally began to see the fruits of some hard labor once the exterior painting began. The exterior of the house is still a work in progress, however the painting is substantially complete. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint does to add curb appeal! Theo (our painter) did an excellent job transforming the exterior from shabby to chic!
We chose to use a fairly safe color selection of white trim with the yellow siding and added some dark grey accents to modernize the look. We will paint the front door the same dark grey to match the shutters and the garage. If you want to incorporate a bold color (like our dark grey), it may be best to use it as an accent color for a front door, shutters and/or garage door and make sure it's a complementary color. Also, replacing a garage door, or in our case repainting a garage door a cool color, adds substantially to the curb appeal of a house.
In addition to the painting we will be re-configuring the porch steps to create a grand front stairway to the front door, adding lattice to the bottom of the porch and adding some minor finishing touches to push the exterior from common to come on in!
What are we overlooking on the exterior? Please share any ideas you have.
