If walls and old desks could talk they would have a story to tell. We just created a one of a kind desk for a buyer that their guests will talk about and the lucky owner will enjoy for many, many years.
This beauty was sitting down in the basement of the Osborn house...as you can see in the pictures above, it wasn't always this beautiful. We refurbished and refinished it to be the hippest desk we have ever seen. When we started, this was a beat-up old work table that needed some love, but to us those nail marks, scars, and imperfections add to the value of this great piece.
We are including this with the purchase of the Osborn house for the lucky
buyers and they are thrilled with it.
Once we refurbished it, we refinished the wood with a stain to match to the woodwork throughout the house and applied polyurethane. The fresh stain and polyurethane create an awesome contrast to the natural distress and painted steel structure of the piece. Every scratch and hole in the wood has a story behind it and adds character. Notice the top drawer with the different handle? That's how the table was when we found it, and we purposely decided to leave it that way. When tackling a project like this, don't be afraid to leave things as-is or feel like everything has to match or coordinate. Every imperfection makes this piece one of a kind!!
You can do a project like this in a long weekend and a couple of short weeknights (to apply the multiple coats of stain and polyurethane).
What furniture do you have in your basement and garage that you have overlooked? That old work bench or table you've been planning to take to the road could be the focal point and prize piece of furniture in your living room or study with just a little work!!
