There are a lot of fun events in the Greater Lansing area this Christmas Season. We had an opportunity to attend the Silver Bells in the City Festival a couple of weeks ago and just recently East Lansing hosted its Winter Glow festival.
Silver Bells was a huge success. There were thousands of people in attendance. The event included an outdoor party hosted by Radio Disney, a parade full of lighted vehicles, floats and marching bands, a really good fireworks show over the Capitol, and capped off with a concert by Radio Disney. The state Capitol remained open late for tours, hot chocolate, and Christmas music. Events like this make the Greater Lansing area such a great place to live! We've included photos of some of our favorites in this blog.
Early in the evening when temperatures were warmer, Jon was excited at first to be out in the crisp fall air; but once that crisp fall air turned to cold winter air when the sun went down, Jon wimped out and left the parade early to "tour the State Capitol". The rest of us including our 3 year old Zoe stayed strong outside until the end of the parade and watched the fireworks that followed. Although, I must say, we were never more excited to see Santa which signaled the end of the parade and our time to get inside somewhere warm was approaching!
How about you? Have you attended any fun community events for Christmas? Were you able to brave the cold for the entire night or did your kid outlast you, too? Next up for us is a local ballet company's production of Nutcracker. Since this is inside, we are hopeful that this will be an event for all of us to enjoy from beginning to end!
