We are in the finishing phase at the kitchen project and it is looking amazing! All of the finishing touches are coming together into an awesome work of art! We used shaker style cabinets with a darker grey color base cabinet and a lighter off-white/light grey color upper cabinet. We used a dark wood countertop that we stained and finish to complement the base cabinet color.
We decided to use a backsplash from the stone family to complement the grey cabinet colors that were selected! We found a couple of great, unique options for backsplash! We are using one style of backsplash in the main kitchen and another style in the butler's pantry. Both styles are an awesome mixture of color shades and shapes that produce a beautiful and unique mosaic!
One of the stars of this kitchen is a microwave drawer, which is an innovative design to free counter-space! This eliminates the need to have the microwave on top of the countertop only uses part of the base cabinet with a full drawer beneath! There is plenty of cabinet space in this spacious kitchen design. So, we could incorporate this into the design and still leave plenty of space for drawers and cabinets!
The photos above shows one of these babies in action! The microwave opens like a drawer so you can access from the top without bending over!
All of the hardware (cabinet pulls, metal finishes on lighting and plumbing fixtures are from the bronze family. The lighting in this room is a cool mix of sleek simple new lights and a colorful tiffany shade that was salvaged from the older kitchen, that fits well with new design!
We converted a breakfast nook into a butlers pantry with room for a bistro table! This extension of the kitchen is complete with a bar sink and additional cabinets and countertop space for extra prep area complete with all of the appliances and work spaces needed to prepare morning breakfast!
That's it for this edition of the kitchen update! We will post photos of the finished product once it is painted!
