Hey everyone! It's been a little while since you've seen this lovely lady. Now she's all done up and waiting for her prince (princess? royal family?) to move in! In the above picture, you can see that the porch and benches outside have gotten fresh coats of paint. Some old plants and flowers were removed and replaced to create a nice, clean vibe outside with seasonal mums.
This is what you see when you walk through the front door! We repainted all of the walls (these rooms were done in Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter), the fireplace (painted with Linen White by Benjamin Moore), and refinished the floors with this amazing two-toned look - it looks even better in person! We did decide to keep the charming original tiles in front of the fireplace and even used them as our inspiration for the color scheme in the home!
The dining room leads to this amazing kitchen! In here, we repainted the existing cabinets (with the same Linen White by Benjamin Moore) because they were in great condition - and we don't like to "fix" what isn't "broken"! We painted the walls (Urbane Bronze by Sherwin Williams) to help tie into the darker stain on the floor in the adjoining dining room. The glass mosaic back splash is definitely the star of the show in the kitchen! We found it online (at www.southcypress.com) before we purchased this home and couldn't resist ordering and using it on this project! It has different shades of blue, cream, and some gray/brown that tie nicely into the color scheme for the house. It was the first time that we decided to take a chance with mosaic and we are so happy with it! We also updated it with new stainless steel appliances, a natural butcher-block counter-top from IKEA, new light fixtures, new cabinet hardware, and new tile floors. This home definitely has a more earth-tone feel to it, and we could just imagine cooking some great chili or soup on a cool Fall night in this kitchen.
From the kitchen, you walk through a sunny breakfast room (sorry, no pictures!) and out to a huge back porch and adorable backyard. The porch space provides ample room for outdoor entertaining and the yard is really a gardener's delight! There is always something pretty in bloom out here! An extra added bonus that you can see near the background of the first picture of the yard is a small bonus area off of the back of the garage. We switched up the look of the doors to make them look like barn doors because we thing it would be perfect space for a chicken coop! Yes, you read that right! We know it is such a hip trend to have chickens - especially in this neighborhood, so we thought we'd offer the option to anyone who may be interested. Now, that's definitely not something you see in every house listing!
OK, well that's a little taste of the Carey home tour! We really can't express how happy we are with the results! If you or anyone you know is interested in this HIp Home, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'd love to give you a full tour in person!
